Joel officially completed his Sonlight K Curriculum this week! We only have a few weeks of math to finish up (his adviser, Mr. Mauw, says he's a math-minded boy). We're so proud of his hard work and diligence to complete his work, and his careful listening to stories and instructions. These are almost all the resources we made it through over the last year (minus the devotion book "Jesus Calling" and the 27 little "Fun Tales" first readers). It has been a rewarding first year of homeschooling for me. I especially enjoyed reading tear-jerking missionary stories in "I Heard Good News Today", watching Joel learn to read for the first time, and hearing his eagerness and enjoyment of Bible stories. Joel says his favorite parts of school has been doing science experiments with Dad and the read aloud books (especially "Egermeier's Bible Story Book" and "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz"). Of course, Home Connection Lego class has been a HUGE hit! He says he is going to build things for the Lord when he grows up and be like Sean Kenney, one of eleven professional Lego builders! We are so blessed to help and guide our kids to know the Lord and find their passion/calling in this world...one page, one question, one struggle, one accomplishment at a time...step by step, day by day....all for His glory.

Wow, Joel--we are so proud of you! You have learned so much! So thankful for your mom and dad for instilling a love for learning in you, not only for math, science, etc., but also for serving Jesus. You are amazing!! We love you.
Congratulations to our favorite grandson! You have accomplished so much and just think how much you have learned already with so much more to discover and learn in the years to come. We are so happy that learning comes easy to you and that you love it. You are a very good follower of Jesus. We love you so much!!
